Biography
Dr. Michelle (Mic) Holliday is an Assistant Professor and the Program Chair for the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology program online at the University of Arizona Global Campus. With over a decade of experience in higher education, Dr. Holliday has a passion for fostering student success, particularly for first-generation students and online learners.
With a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in public health, and a Ph.D. in sociology, Dr. Holliday brings an interdisciplinary perspective to both teaching and research. With a diverse academic
background, Dr. Holliday has developed expertise across several fields, including education, media studies, urban planning, and gender/sexuality. This varied expertise allows them to support both students and faculty, particularly in online environments where flexibility and individualized support are crucial.
As Program Chair for the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology program, Dr. Holliday is committed to creating a dynamic, supportive, and engaging curriculum that prepares students for careers in social services,
research, public policy, and more. Dr. Holliday thrives in leadership roles, working closely with faculty members to develop best practices for teaching, learning, and assessment in an online format. As someone who values the power of education to transform lives, Dr. Holliday is especially invested in supporting online faculty in their professional development and ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to create an optimal learning experience for all students.
