Haley Sampson
Associate Director
Biography
The Faculty Engagement branch of Faculty Affairs supports the alignment of faculty classroom practices to UAGC values by regularly communicating institutional student success priorities; facilitating discussion of instructional perspectives; and linking classroom challenges to resources that support resolution. Under the leadership of Haley Sampson, the Associate Director of Faculty Engagement, the team partners with Faculty Development and institutional stakeholders whose work impacts the faculty experience to amplify the faculty voice and optimize opportunities for faculty support and development. Haley and the Faculty Engagement team see every interaction with a UAGC faculty member, staff member, or student as a chance to create a supportive learning environment for all.
Haley has supported non-traditional students in higher education since 2003 in multiple capacities, including serving as Dean of Student Services and Campus Director. These roles focused on student retention through both operational and academic lenses - ensuring students' financial aid needs were met and academic rigor was achieved. Since 2012, she has served UAGC faculty to support an ideal classroom experience. Haley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing and a master’s degree in management with an emphasis in higher education leadership. She has served as a faculty member in the on-ground classroom format, teaching courses on goal setting and career management. Exemplified by her teaching focus, Haley researches the role of self-reflection in the learning, community-building, and goal-setting processes, with an eye for how reflection can support cultural change and positive developments in the classroom. With her leadership, the Faculty Engagement team manages the annual Course Feedback process, where faculty support consultants deliver to faculty formative feedback on their teaching practices, and the annual Faculty Self-Reflection process, whereby faculty formally consider their practices, successes, and challenges and converse with a faculty support consultant about opportunities for development. The team also offers just-in-time classroom support to the entire UAGC faculty body and facilitates faculty communication and engagement events, such as the UAGC Faculty Community of Practice, the annual Teaching and Learning Conference, and the UAGC Chronicle, a quarterly, faculty-focused publication.
