Tuition and fees are billed on a financial aid payment period basis, regardless of payment option. For undergraduate programs, a payment period is a minimum of 20 weeks of instructional time and 12 successfully earned credits. This is typically four courses taken sequentially during the payment period. For graduate programs, courses are 6 weeks or 9 weeks in length. A payment period for graduate programs is generally defined by the University as a minimum of 18 weeks of instructional time and 9 successfully earned credits (typically 3 courses sequentially) or 2 credits of Dissertation/Applied Doctoral Project courses or 3 credits of practicum. An exception to this may occur for any program during the student’s final academic year if fewer weeks and credits are needed.
Tuition and applicable fees are due according to the terms and conditions of a student’s selected Payment Option. See the section on Payment Options for more information.
The University of Arizona Global Campus reserves the right to cancel the registration of any student whose account is unresolved. The University withholds diplomas or certificates until students pay in full their account balances.
Unresolved Balance Holds and Collections
The University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) considers account balances unresolved when they remain unpaid, as required, and after multiple correspondence attempts. Any students with unresolved balances may have a financial hold placed on their account and will not be allowed to register for subsequent terms or courses until they pay their balance in full. Students with unresolved balances cannot take comprehensive exams or receive a diploma.
Students who do not resolve their balance after UAGC’s attempts to collect will go into the drop/withdrawal status and become inactive. UAGC will transfer student accounts that remain unpaid to an external collection agency. If you fail to pay on time and we refer your account(s) to a third party for collection, a collection fee will be assessed and will be due at the time of the referral to a third party. Payment of this fee will be the responsibility of the student. The fee will be calculated at the maximum percentage permitted by applicable law, not to exceed 30 percent.
Tuition Benefit Eligibility Requirements
If a University tuition benefit, grant, or scholarship is offered to assist with the program-related fees and charges above, additional eligibility requirements must be submitted and approvals obtained prior to application of these benefits. Benefits will be awarded at the time of disclosing eligibility and submitting any required documents upon request; retroactive adjustments will not be applied to previous coursework or fees.
Credit Balance Payments (Stipends)
A federal student aid credit balance is created when the total of all federal student aid funds that are credited to the student’s account exceeds the amount of current and prior year (up to $200) tuition, fees, and any other educationally related charges the institution assessed the student for the payment period. For students who have an institutional balance within the same academic year, subsequent federal student aid disbursements will be held to cover the institutional charges. For credit balances created by Parent PLUS loans, the credit balance will be issued to the parent who applied for the loan on behalf of the dependent student. The credit balance must be paid to the student (or parent for PLUS loans) no later than 14 days after the credit balance occurs.
