The University of Arizona Global Campus previously operated as Ashford University, which was a private postsecondary institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). In October 2018, the U.S. Department of Education approved the addition of University of the Rockies degrees to Ashford University’s program offerings, creating a single comprehensive institution headquartered in San Diego, California. On December 1, 2021, UAGC moved their principal headquarter office to Chandler, Arizona. On June 30, 2023, UAGC was acquired by the University of Arizona, a public institution of higher education, and since that date has operated as a business unit of the University of Arizona.
