Zyna Caron, BA in Health and Human Services

One of Zyna Caron’s guiding principles is to be able to help those who are less fortunate. Indeed, it’s been a goal of hers long before she decided to complete her degree.  

“There’s a need out there in the universe,” she says.

She knows first-hand. Dealt with what she calls a “challenging childhood,” Zyna became a homeless teenager at age 14, and she lived on the streets on her own for several years.

There’s one undeniable trait that all successful the University of Arizona Global Campus students share: they are goal-setters. Biography

So often, success is just a matter of timing. 

Timothy Gallagher knew he’d never take the traditional route to college. After graduating high school in the late 1980s with a 1.8 GPA, Timothy decided he was not prepared for higher education and decided to jump into the workforce instead. His love of computers earned him a sales job at Montgomery Ward, and he went on to become a vendor representative for companies including Packard Bell, Microsoft, and IBM.

The Dean’s List. It’s an accomplishment every determined UAGC student hopes to attain. Released twice a year for the spring and fall, it recognizes undergraduate students who earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher and who have completed 12 or more credits – including at least one course since the time the previous Dean’s List was published.

Biography

Renata C. Franklin never let outside opinions or obstacles get in the way of what she describes as a “burning desire” to pursue higher education.

“I wasn’t encouraged by anyone, but that nagging feeling stayed in the back of my mind and would not go away until I made a conscious decision to take school seriously,” she says.

The 12-year Army veteran explored several academic options before ultimately finding the right fit with Ashford University* in September 2015.

Initially, Renata says she wanted to prove to herself that she could do it.
