About the Culture of Care Summit
The UAGC Culture of Care Summit educates and inspires participants to take action in their own organizations, teams, and circles by better understanding what a Culture of Care looks like and feels like, and the positive benefits of building this culture. Whether in education, business, or a community not-for-profit, the summit supports national and international constituents in improving customer service, organizational well-being, and lasting positive, impactful conditions for their organizations by creating a culture that does not just say they care but really do care for their employees and customers.

The Clifford Blizzard Award for Passionate CARE and Creative Excellence
We invite all attendees and participants to vote for our first annual Clifford Blizzard Award for Passionate CARE and Creative Excellence in honor of our colleague, Dr. Clifford Blizzard. Clifford supported the foundational planning for our first summit and was a shining light in our institution as he lived and modeled a Culture of Care to our students and his colleagues. During each live session (March 26-27) a link will be provided to vote for that session if you believe the session promotes the following CARE strategies. Attendees are welcome to vote for as many sessions they feel encompasses the CARE foundations.

This 25-minute self-care session is a unique system combining laughter exercises with yogic breathing techniques. Laughter Yoga (LY) is utilized in a wide range of social and professional settings to enhance performance, health, wellness, coping, and resilience. In this session, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, Dr. Yolanda Harper, will lead participants through select Laughter Yoga exercises. Be prepared to laugh and have fun!

This 15-minute Flash Session will explore actionable strategies to combat burnout in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) educators by fostering collective wellness. Participants will discover the transformative power of culturally affirming practices, community care, and systemic change to create sustainable well-being and professional resilience. This session will specifically raise awareness and offer practical insights that attendees can reflect on or implement immediately after the session. Longer-term outcomes, like advocating for systemic change or empowering leadership, will be introduced as areas for further exploration or follow-up discussions.

No matter the industry, if healthy wellness behaviors are not modeled from the top down, there can be a lack of trust and believability within and outside of the organization. CARE is not just a statement. CARE must be a developing attitude and action. CARE includes purposeful behaviors that align with communication, advocacy, respect, and empowerment. Join Ms. Arrasmith in this 30-minute session that reminds all of us how important purposeful CARE is from all levels of the organization.

This 30-minute session will outline the path of Jessica Smith, a UAGC graduate, as she adjusted to the lifestyle of a non-traditional student and found success at UAGC. Finally, she will discuss how she is ‘paying it forward’ to mentor others and how her experiences reflected the Culture of Care at UAGC.

This session invites participants to explore the ethical landscape of AI through engaging discussions and hands-on activities. Attendees will learn to apply ethical frameworks, secure sensitive data, and use Fair Thinking Prompt techniques to mitigate bias in AI outputs. Designed to empower participants with practical strategies, the session emphasizes creating fair and inclusive AI-driven solutions for learning initiatives.

Military-affiliated students often face unique challenges due to their service-related responsibilities, frequent relocations, and complex life circumstances. High stop-out rates among this demographic highlight the need for institutions to develop effective retention strategies that address these barriers. The University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) has successfully implemented a comprehensive approach involving Green Zone Training and a “Culture of Care” framework to support and retain military-affiliated students.
